The challenge

Lamb Weston wanted to give their curly fries some serious screen time. They came to us with a storyboard in hand, seeking an agency that could bring their vision to life with precision and flair. The mission was clear: create stop-motion-style ads that would make their Twisters irresistible to viewers.

The catch? It had to be done with a tight turnaround and a client who had a very specific idea of how everything should look and feel. The stakes were high, and we were up for the challenge.

The approach

With a storyboard already mapped out by the client, our role was to execute their vision with perfection. Working with a dictatorial brief meant there was little room for creative deviation, but our team excelled at turning direction into delightful visuals. The shoot took place in our studio, where we set up a 3-point lighting system and used a RED camera on a jib facing down to capture the stop-motion magic.

Production

The shoot wrapped in a single day, but not without some unique hurdles. Coordinating a child on set required extra care and patience. Our team’s expertise in lighting and camera work ensured that every fry twist and grab was captured in all its glory.

Post-Production

In post, we took Lamb Weston’s vision and turned it into a polished, mouth-watering ad. The process involved grading, editing, compositing, and animation to achieve the perfect stop-motion effect. Full sound design was added, complete with voiceover elements, sound effects, and music to elevate the viewing experience.

Post-production took between one to two weeks, with the client heavily involved in every minute detail, ensuring that each frame met their expectations. One particular challenge was time remapping the shots of hands grabbing the fries to give it that extra sense of “purpose” the client desired.

The outcome

The final piece came together beautifully, with the ad showcasing Lamb Weston’s Twisters in a way that was both visually engaging and deliciously appealing. The client’s exacting standards paid off, as they were thrilled with the result. The ad successfully captured the audience’s attention, making Lamb Weston’s curly fries the star of the show. With a satisfied client and a stop-motion ad that turned out as crisp as the fries themselves, we can confidently say that this project hit the mark.
