Rugby fans traditionally flock to the pub to watch the Six Nations internationals. In February and March 2023, Greene King got together with tournament sponsors Guinness and TrunkBBI to make sure their pubs were the chosen venues. Game on!

The approach

TrunkBBI’s solution was to unleash the power of gamification—perfect for an audience united by their passion for ferociously competitive sport. Top Tackler tempted fans into their local Greene King pub to get the live match experience —and enjoy bonus free drinks by playing the app-based game.

The results

Over 30,000 players tackled Top Tackler, testing their skills, achieving high scores—and causing the occasional scrum at the bars of Greene King pubs. 180,000 free drinks and other prizes were redeemed during the tournament with a total of 220,000 game plays.
