Trunk’s Pool Party

Posted by Amber Dawson

It was all to play for: triumph, a shiny glass trophy and the bragging rights of sunny Manchester. Trunk’s pool party was kicking off on the top floor of the Beehive Lofts and fierce competition had entered our den. But who would leave victorious?

The scene was set with booze and Ibiza classics, and after a few friendlies, the tournament got underway. The likes of Cuckoo Design, Flow Creative and many more had gathered to test their skills. Nick Entwistle nearly made an early exit against Ben Harrap, but clawed it back to enter the second round. Meanwhile, Robin Watson got lucky after Tim Butler potted the black then the white, whilst other members of the Trunk team, Chris and Rich, didn’t make it past the first stage. Emily Ring did the girls proud by winning her game, whilst Amber Dawson continued in her streak of crushing defeats.

As the tournament heated up, round 2 came and went leaving Nick vs. Karl Doran and Andy Windle vs. Ellis Love in the two semi-finals. And then, it came, amongst a whirl of chatter and alcohol: The Final. It was Andy Windle vs. Nick Entwistle, and both had their eyes firmly on the trophy. It was best of three and drawn at one a piece after Nick had potted the black with two of Andy’s stripes still left on the table. Andy came back fighting though in the second round, so it all came down to the final game. Andy was leading from the off, with just one striped ball left before the black, amongst a sea of Nick’s spots. Nick wasn’t letting go of the victory that easily though and snookered Andy at every turn, coming back to clear up the table with just the black left in his way. But then, he missed! Andy stepped up and tapped the black into its pocket, taking the crown!

The finalists shook hands before Andy was presented with the Trunk Pool Party Champion trophy of 2017. All in all, it was an evening packed with good chat, good people and healthy competition.

The event wouldn’t have been official without its very own snapchat filter which many had fun making use of. It’s also the closest thing to a swimming pool that we had – thankfully nobody had turned up in trunks! The action was also captured live on our Facebook page so if Nick ever wants to relive missing out on the trophy, he can whenever he likes.

Cheers to everyone who came, and if you missed out keep an eye out for the next one!
